At Lidgard Yacht Design we can prepare a classic power or sail boat design for you to whatever era aesthetics you may desire.
Build mediums can vary from modern composites to classic plank on frame. Our original boat building experience originated with carvel built sail and power boats. Currently for example we are building vessels in a composite of edge glued and fastened wood plank on closely spaced laminated wood frames and backbone with external structural overlays of multi-axial epoxy and glass laminates. This method allows these internal laminated structures and planking to be left in their natural state although encapsulated with epoxy and clear two pack systems. These structures and shells are very robust and have shell rigidity in some respects greater than that achievable in cored glass composites although admittedly these vessels are somewhat greater in displacement, however in keeping with their concept but still lighter in displacement than was achievable in say a traditional carvel built vessel.
